Syfy prepared to take 'Communion'
Syfy is within development around the otherworldly drama "The Breaking of the bread Letters" from authors Jonathan Gruber and Dork Matalon. Project, to become created by Universal Cable Prods., is inspired through the same-entitled book, edited by Whitley Strieber and Anne Strieber. Tome examines claims by individuals who believe they've been kidnapped by or have experienced encounters with aliens. Whitley Strieber suggests that in 1985 he was kidnapped by non-humans from the cabin in upstate NY and referred to his account from the incident within the book "Breaking of the bread." Other books compiled by Strieber include horror books "The Wolfen" and "The Hunger." Vincent Newman will professional produce with Gruber and Matalon. Gruber was the co-creator from the former ABC Family series "Kyle XY." Gruber and Matalon are repped by Josh Adler and Mike Goldberg of recent Wave Entertainment and also the Kaplan-Stahler Agency. The Striebers are repped by Paul Canterna of Seven Summits Management and APA. Contact Stuart Levine at stuart.levine@variety.com
